BHV is returning to IBC, this time with the first production units of its own-branded SportsBox. This compact remote vision mixer and picture processor is a game-changer.
Measuring only 17 x 22 x 3cms, the SportsBox delivers exceptional performance in a small package. It boasts full 4-channel 12G-SDI inputs, supporting 4K/4:2:2 video and embedded audio. Designed for challenging environments such as vehicle-based motorsport coverage, the SportsBox uniquely handles all four video channels simultaneously over a single baseband link – like COFDM. This allows a gallery preview of four cameras per vehicle, significantly enhancing viewer engagement.
BHV CTO Bill Garrett explains: “More and more sponsors are demanding visibility in sports coverage and that means 4K is now a necessity. Previously, 4K meant cumbersome installations that were often rejected by the sporting bodies. Now BHV offers switching and processing, including PIP, in a compact, field-ready unit weighing just a few hundred grams.”
The SportsBox utilizes a software-defined architecture, enabling customizable deployment. Its feature roadmap includes HDR support and IP video transport. This is the first in a series of branded products BHV is introducing for field production and OB applications. IBC 2025 attendees can experience the production-ready SportsBox at Stand 10.B10 (L2Tek) and discover BHV’s future plans.
