Channel 5’s My5 streaming service achieved its fastest-ever growth rate in 2024, with Barb TV Viewing Minutes for the Paramount-owned PSB increasing by 53% compared to 2023. This growth significantly outpaced other PSB streaming services, exceeding BBC iPlayer (+24%), ITVX (+22%), and Channel 4 (+15%).
This success is largely attributed to the popularity of Channel 5’s drama offerings, including the revived All Creatures Great and Small, and new series like The Teacher and Ellis. Non-scripted programs such as Phillip Schofield: Castaway and true crime content like Cause of Death also contributed significantly to the increased viewership.
Ben Frow, Channel 5’s Chief Content Officer, commented: “2024 was a huge year for My5 as our viewers really discovered the depth of content, particularly our Channel 5 dramas, that we have on the service. We know that audiences increasingly want to switch seamlessly between streaming and linear TV and that’s why in March we are relaunching both our services under the combined brand of 5 with a significantly greater range of programming on offer.”
The impressive growth of My5 precedes its relaunch in March 2025, where Channel 5 and My5 will merge under the unified brand "5" across linear, streaming, and digital platforms. The relaunched service will include more boxsets, shows from Paramount and other partners, a dedicated kids and family section featuring Milkshake! and Nickelodeon, and new FAST channels.
