On April 2, 2025, former NBC and MSNBC political director and host Chuck Todd debuted the first episode of his independent podcast, "Chuck Toddcast." Initially launched in 2016 as a collaboration with NBC News, the podcast gained significant popularity through cross-promotion. Todd retained the rights to the name as part of his departure agreement earlier in 2025, placing it on hiatus until its April 2025 relaunch.
The relaunched podcast features a revamped design, including a new logo with a bold, italic font prominently displaying Todd's name. Employing a patriotic red, white, and blue color scheme, the video version often uses a split-screen background featuring a close-up of the U.S. Capitol dome. Marketing emphasizes its "unscripted" nature and lack of "spin," forming the foundation for Todd's envisioned broader podcasting network. A consistent logo is featured in the upper left of the screen to minimize obstruction by lower thirds or watermarks when clips are shared elsewhere.
The host segments, shot with a lower-quality camera, show Todd sitting before a screen displaying the Capitol dome. The tight one-shot framing occasionally results in awkward camera movement. Despite this, the framing avoids the issues typical of video conferencing. Todd appears to use wireless earbuds. A notable interview with Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, however, showcases a higher production value, with a two-camera setup (a two-shot and a one-shot of Fetterman) and improved lighting, conducted in front of a fireplace.
While some podcast platforms carried over profile pages and ratings, the 700+ episodes from the NBC era are largely unavailable. The podcast's YouTube page, youtube.com/@thechucktoddcast, is newly created. As of 9 a.m. Eastern on April 3, 2025, it had 195 subscribers and viewership for the premiere episode was low, indicating many listeners prefer audio-only platforms. These numbers are expected to grow over time. The official website, thechucktoddcast.com, launched prior to the relaunch and utilizes GoDaddy's Airo website builder.
