The German broadband industry will convene in Leipzig next month for the 28th FRK Broadband Congress. Discussions will center on the significant challenges of extending fibre networks into buildings.
Organized by the cable operator association Fachverband Rundfunk- und BreitbandKommunikation (FRK), the event takes place on September 10-11 at the H4 Hotel in Leipzig. Along with conference sessions, exhibitors will showcase the newest developments and technical solutions for cable and fibre network deployment.
A keynote speech on Germany’s gigabit supply, examining the interplay between market forces and political strategies, will be delivered by Wolfgang Heer, managing director of the fibre industry association Bundesverband Glasfaseranschluss (BUGLAS), on the opening evening. This year's congress will place a strong emphasis on fibre expansion at network level 4 (NE4), the in-building infrastructure that poses a major obstacle to nationwide FTTH deployment.
Presentations will feature best-practice models and practical solutions designed to expedite NE4 rollout. Collaboration among telecom providers is also a key agenda item. Sessions will analyze how open access agreements can be structured to benefit all stakeholders, while other discussions will explore integrated fibre solutions across network levels 3 and 4 utilizing XGS-PON technology.
Further topics include the application of artificial intelligence in fibre deployment, strategies to streamline staff workloads, overhead line construction for fibre-to-the-home networks, and effective customer communication strategies.
“Like every year, attendance at our broadband congress, including the presentations and exhibition, is free of charge for trade visitors,” stated FRK Chairman Ralf Berger. He highlighted that catering is not priced at typical trade fair levels: “Cool drinks and coffee are also free.”
The event aims to provide attendees with opportunities to learn about the latest product innovations and share experiences with industry experts. For further details, including the complete programme and registration information, visit the congress website at www.breitbandkongress-frk.de.
