Hoda Kotb, former co-anchor of NBC's Today show, is making a one-day return to the fourth hour of the franchise. This appearance, scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2025, serves as a promotional event for her new wellness brand.
Kotb, who departed from her anchor role in January 2025, will guest co-host "Today with Jenna and Friends." The show, previously titled "Today with Hoda and Jenna," currently features guest co-hosts alongside Jenna Bush Hager. Craig Melvin now fills Kotb's former anchor chair on the first two hours of the show.
NBC has remained tight-lipped about its plans to permanently replace Kotb. She had co-anchored the first two hours of "Today" since 2018, taking over from Matt Lauer. Following her move to the main anchor desk, Kotb continued to co-host the fourth hour, a role she held with Kathie Lee Gifford since 2008.
Kotb's return is expected to prominently feature her new wellness venture. While the name remains undisclosed, its launch is anticipated on May 28th. Kotb has been subtly promoting this initiative since April 2025.
Beyond her wellness brand, Kotb continues hosting her podcast, "Making Space with Hoda Kotb," and will contribute reports to "Today," and will be featured in the upcoming Olympic coverage. Her departure from "Today" was attributed to a desire to prioritize family and friends, including her adopted daughters, Haley and Hope. However, unconfirmed reports suggested a possible salary dispute.
Kotb’s wellness brand operates independently of NBC News, although "Today" frequently includes guests promoting their own projects. Lauer has denied any wrongdoing.
