Kudelski's Digital Television segment, now rebranded as Core Digital Security, experienced a significant downturn in 2024, with revenues falling by 11.6% to $227.8 million. The company attributes this decline primarily to the shrinking traditional Conditional Access System market. However, the report highlights a strong performance from certain product lines, particularly Advanced Security, which saw a remarkable 47% revenue increase.
This growth is fueled by the success of Kudelski's anti-piracy solutions. Several strategic contracts underscore this achievement, including partnerships with major players like France Télévisions for secure sports content replay and FanCode for Active Streaming Protection implementation. Other notable contract wins include Telefonica, RAI, Sun NXT, and HBBTV. Canal+ has also entered into a significant 10-year strategic partnership with Kudelski to bolster its anti-piracy efforts.
The implementation of Active Streaming Protection aims to combat content theft, prevent service fraud, and significantly reduce piracy across Canal+'s services. These strategic partnerships demonstrate the company's commitment to content protection in the face of rising digital piracy. Following a corporate restructuring and cost-reduction program announced earlier in the year, Kudelski has consolidated its business segments. The Digital Television division has merged with core security activities from the Kudelski IoT division to form Core Digital Security. This restructuring included a planned reduction of 160 positions globally, with 40 to 45 positions affected at its Swiss headquarters.
