Logos Space Services, a startup co-founded by a former Google executive and a NASA project manager, has announced securing $50 million in Series A funding. This significant investment, provided by US Innovative Technologies (USIT), will fuel the development of a substantial broadband satellite network comprising over 4,000 satellites.

USIT, led by entrepreneur Thomas Tull, is a prominent investor in dual-use technologies (civilian and military). Their continued sole investment in Logos highlights the potential of this ambitious project. Logos, based in Redwood City, California, emerged from stealth mode in October, having already applied for FCC licenses to operate within K, V, and E spectrum bands.

These low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites are designed for operation at 870–925 kilometers, surpassing the altitude of SpaceX’s Starlink satellites. The constellation will leverage high frequencies and tightly focused beams at elevated angles to minimize signal interference and enhance resistance to jamming. Milo Medin, formerly Google's vice president of access services and now Logos' founder, stated, "We’ve made progress on our engineering design. We’ve added to our core technical team with experience from major aerospace and satellite players, from SpaceX to NASA to Airbus and more."

The company currently employs 10 people full-time and plans to expand its workforce to at least 40 by year's end. Recent hires include director of engineering Jorge Delgado, bringing expertise from Airbus, OneWeb, and Apollo Fusion. Medin clarified that this funding round facilitates crucial design decisions, partnership development, and prototype creation, aiming for the launch of its first operational satellite by late 2027. The initial plan of 3,960 satellites has been revised to 4,178, making it one of the largest proposed constellations globally, though still trailing Starlink’s current operational fleet of over 7,700.

Logos joins other USIT-backed companies bridging commercial and national security interests, including Anduril, Shield AI, and Capella Space.
