NBCUniversal’s WNBC and WNJU, serving the New York City area, now operate from a shared newsroom within 30 Rockefeller Plaza. WNBC, an NBC-owned station, and WNJU, a Telemundo station, commenced operations in the shared space in late May 2025, with WNBC moving in earlier. The second-floor space spans between 49th and 50th streets (approximately 150 feet), maximizing natural light.

“Our new, state-of-the-art facility and unified newsroom reflects the unique history, legacy and audiences of WNBC and WNJU,” said John Durso, vice president of community and communications, NBC New York and Telemundo 47. “It is led by award-winning journalists who are among the very best in their field and operational 24/7, offering content in both English and Spanish.”

The newsroom features a central assignment desk and ceiling-mounted monitors for real-time channel and feed monitoring. The design encourages collaboration by grouping staff with similar roles from both stations together. Multiple collaborative workspaces, including an open conference area for shared editorial meetings and smaller group areas, are included.

Relocating to 30 Rockefeller Plaza allows WNBC and WNJU closer proximity to other NBCUniversal brands, facilitating shared ideas and resources. Telemundo 47’s newscasts originate from Studio 3BW, adjacent to WNBC’s Studio 3BE. These studios, linked by a shared weather office, replaced the former Studio 3B. WNBC utilized Studio 3BE since November 2023, while Studio 3BW previously hosted MSNBC election specials and NBC News Now’s 2024 election coverage.

Recent modifications include replacing LED columns with concave panels featuring the Telemundo logo, mirroring a similar design element on WNBC’s set with a peacock motif. Before the move in 2024, Studio 3B was a large space hosting “NBC Nightly News” sets and various other productions.

The newsroom design mirrors the quasi-industrial style of NBC’s fourth-floor newsroom, using exposed brick and metal-clad columns. A flash camera position near the assignment desk allows for live broadcasts from various points within the space. Elegant elevator lobbies, visible through floor-to-ceiling windows, complete the renovations.

“Our stations will continue to maintain a physical presence in New Jersey with our joint WNBC/WNJU Northern New Jersey news bureau. This will be operational later this summer and based in Bergen County,” added Durso.
