ProSiebenSat.1, the German media giant, has announced a positive financial performance for 2024, reporting a 2% increase in revenue, reaching €3.92 billion. This growth comes despite a challenging economic environment that impacted advertising spending. While adjusted EBITDA saw a slight dip to €557 million, reflecting cautious spending in the TV segment, the company's digital strategy proved remarkably resilient.
The company's streaming platform, Joyn, demonstrated significant progress with a remarkable 44% surge in monthly video users and a 36% increase in viewing time. This strong performance underscores the effectiveness of ProSiebenSat.1's focus on digital entertainment. Furthermore, the Commerce & Ventures division achieved a major milestone, exceeding €1 billion in revenue for the first time, with adjusted EBITDA nearly doubling to €106 million.
Looking ahead, ProSiebenSat.1 anticipates further revenue growth in 2025, projecting approximately €4 billion. The company expects a modest 2% increase in advertising revenues within the DACH region. CEO Bert Habets emphasized the company’s commitment to bolstering its entertainment business, particularly Joyn, aiming for double-digit growth in its market share. CFO Martin Mildner highlighted the importance of cost management in maintaining financial stability while pursuing strategic investments. The company is also actively exploring potential divestments of non-strategic assets, including Flaconi and Verivox, as part of its ongoing strategic portfolio realignment.
