Rakuten TV has announced the launch of a new free ad-supported television (FAST) channel dedicated to showcasing the best of Nordic cinema. This new channel, called Nordic Films, is now available in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark.
According to Rakuten, the channel “captures the essence of Nordic storytelling and its cinematic richness”. The selection boasts a wide variety of genres, including family comedies, dramas, crime thrillers, and adventures. Viewers can expect to see films featuring a stellar cast of actors popular across the Nordic region.
Some of the notable actors whose films will be featured on the channel include Mads Mikkelsen, Alexander Skarsgård, Joel Kinnaman, Josephine Bornebusch, Cecilia Frode, Malin Crépin, Rolf Lassgård, Michael Nyqvist, and Erik “Jerka” Johansson. This new channel provides a diverse and compelling selection of films for viewers across the Nordic countries.
