Sky Deutschland, a prominent German pay-TV broadcaster, is significantly expanding its coverage of Bundesliga matches in UHD/HDR and Dolby Atmos. Starting from the 2025/26 season, over 130 Bundesliga fixtures per year will be broadcast in this enhanced format, a substantial increase from previous years.

A notable addition is the inclusion of Friday evening games in UHD/HDR, alongside the already existing Saturday afternoon feature, the “match of the week,” and the 2. Bundesliga top fixture. Sky is also expanding Dolby Atmos coverage to encompass the new “Flutlicht-Freitag” (Friday night game), enriching the viewing experience with immersive 3D sound.

“We are delighted to bring the special atmosphere of the Friday night games into fans’ living rooms in UHD/HDR and Dolby Atmos. Supporters will not only see every detail in razor-sharp clarity but also experience the celebrations and stadium setting as if they were there,” said Alessandro Reitano, Senior Vice President Sports Production at Sky Deutschland.

Arkin Kol, Head of Commercial Partnerships Europe at Dolby, added: “We are very pleased that Sky Deutschland is significantly expanding its range of Bundesliga matches with Dolby Atmos sound. With Dolby Atmos we transform live sport from mere broadcasts into a truly immersive experience. The spatial sound field and the precise localisation of effects enable viewers to experience passes, goal celebrations and referee decisions as if they were right there in the stadium.”

Access to the UHD/HDR and Dolby Atmos option is available through Sky Stream online and Sky Q on cable and satellite, contingent on subscribers having compatible equipment. In total, Sky Sport will broadcast 538 out of the 617 matches from the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga this season.
