Sky Deutschland will continue its role as the home of the National Hockey League (NHL) in Germany and Austria for several more years. This follows a recently announced long-term partnership extension. Ice hockey enthusiasts in these countries can anticipate enjoying more than 300 live NHL games yearly on Sky Sport, encompassing regular season matches, the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the Stanley Cup Final.

As in previous years, Sky Sport's coverage will include at least one live game daily during the NHL season. Significant events, such as the NHL Winter Classic, the NHL Global Series, and the primetime "NHL Saturday" and "NHL Sunday" games, specifically designed for European viewers, will also be aired. A selection of matches will be presented with German-language commentary, while all games will be available in the original English language.

“Leon Draisaitl, Moritz Seider, Tim Stützle – German athletes are among the league’s standout stars. With this extended partnership, fans can continue to follow their journeys in the world’s best hockey league and their pursuit of the Stanley Cup live on Sky Sport,” stated Hans Gabbe, Senior Vice President Sports Rights & Commercialization at Sky Deutschland.

Jaka Lednik, NHL Senior Vice President of International, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “We’re thrilled to extend our relationship with Sky Sport to bring the biggest hockey stars to passionate fans in Germany and Austria. With dedicated partners like Sky, we can keep delivering the excitement of NHL hockey at its best.”

Beyond live games, Sky Sport will provide game summaries and the NHL's highlight show, On the Fly. The broadcasting rights encompass all distribution platforms within Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, and South Tyrol. The agreement also includes B2B usage in establishments such as bars and hotels via Sky Business.
