Starlink is now officially authorized to offer satellite broadband services in Sri Lanka, a country with a population of approximately 22 million people. The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has issued a service provider license to Starlink, allowing the company to provide its services to customers in the market. The announcement was made on August 13.

This development follows a recent meeting between Sri Lanka's President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Elon Musk in Indonesia. During the meeting, they discussed accelerating the application process for connecting Sri Lanka to Starlink, aiming to enhance Sri Lanka's access to high-speed internet through satellite technology.

Musk's visit to Indonesia in May, which saw the expansion of Starlink access to Indonesia and Fiji, paved the way for this progress. Starlink Lanka can now offer satellite broadband services across the country, with the license coming into effect immediately. This is considered a significant step forward for Sri Lanka as it strives to provide more people with access to high-speed internet.
