VodafoneZiggo is set to increase its service availability to 600,000 additional addresses across the Netherlands through a new partnership with Delta Fiber. This strategic agreement will make Ziggo internet and television services available in almost all parts of the country by 2026.
The expansion will bring additional benefits to Vodafone customers in Delta Fiber service areas, leveraging the combined strengths of both companies. Stephen van Rooyen, CEO of VodafoneZiggo, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “With the collaboration with Delta Fiber, we will serve customers throughout the country and Ziggo’s internet and television will be available to a large group of new households. For VodafoneZiggo’s own network, the approach is unchanged. We continue to invest in our own network. The planned upgrade to DOCSIS 4.0 will provide more capacity and speeds of up to 8 Gbit/s. In this way, we are committed to connecting everyone and everything with what really matters.”
The agreement specifically covers the regions of Twente, Westland, and Zeeland, along with portions of cities like Gouda, Schiedam, and Aalsmeer. Marco Visser, CEO of DELTA Fiber, highlighted the alignment of this collaboration with their market strategy: “We have always been a strong advocate of open networks, where multiple providers use each other’s infrastructure. We see this as a healthy market development that once again emphasises that the construction of double fibre optic networks is not necessary.”
This partnership represents a significant step towards further opening up fiber optic networks in the Netherlands. By allowing multiple providers to offer services over a single network, the arrangement increases network occupancy and fosters greater competition. This expansion is a key component of VodafoneZiggo's strategy focused on enhancing its services, ensuring reliable and high-speed internet access across the country.
