Canal+ Group has renewed its distribution agreement with beIN Sports, ensuring its subscribers have access to the week’s top or second pick from Ligue 1 each Saturday.

The original agreement, which began in June 2020, includes the carriage of the beIN Sports channels in Canal’s packages, and makes the Vivendi unit the exclusive distributor of beIN Sports to all internet service providers in France.

“The renewal of the partnership between CANAL+ and beIN SPORTS is a positive development for French sports fans, bringing together more quality content under a single subscription and at advantageous prices, said a statement from Canal released to Broadband TV News.

beIN Sports’ will  pay €100 million to broadcast the 5pm Saturday game while DAZN will pay €400 million for 8 matches per week.

The contract will run from the start of the season until 2029, though it has been reported there is a contract break available after 2 years.

The season begins this weekend.
