DAZN is no longer accessible through Amazon’s Prime Video Channels in Italy. This decision follows a significant disagreement regarding audience measurement practices. According to Il Sole 24 Ore, the conflict centers around the methodology used to measure DAZN's viewership, particularly important as it holds the rights to broadcast Serie A football matches.
The Italian media regulator, Agcom, mandates that audience measurement, a key component in determining TV rights distribution revenues, be conducted by Auditel. Il Sole 24 Ore reports that Amazon Prime Video objected to Auditel’s methodology, specifically citing concerns over the implementation of the Sdk software, vital for accurate viewership detection.
Currently, Audicom and Auditel are reportedly in discussions with Amazon to explore alternative solutions to the Sdk software issue. The outcome of these talks will determine the future availability of DAZN on Amazon Prime Video Channels in Italy.
