The Transcarpathian satellite TV channel Sirius, founded in Mukachevo, has stopped broadcasting. There are no broadcasts on the website or streaming services. The last news on the website is dated January 20, social networks and YouTube stopped updating around the same time. This was reported by "Detector Media" citing channel employees. Former channel director Vitaliy Meshcheryakov said that in mid-August last year, the investor announced that funding would cease in two weeks and, accordingly, the TV company would no longer exist. "During this period, we informed our partners about the termination of cooperation, and almost three dozen employees about the upcoming dismissal. In fact, no full-fledged news or any own programs have been produced since September. The broadcast included replays of previously filmed programs and programs of our partners, in particular "Deutsche Welle", "Radio Liberty", "Voice of America". Two film crews were making some plots, who agreed to work with the channel after the departure of the main cohort of the best employees, who were the face of the channel for the past year and a half", said Vitaliy Meshcheryakov. The owner of LLC "Sirius Media Production" Roman Povorznik confirmed in a comment to "Detector Media" that the channel is not working: "We have suspended our work. We are trying to get out, we are looking for sources of funding." Vitaliy Meshcheryakov says that the channel has been experiencing financial problems for a long time. "We, of course, endured, understanding that the financial situation in the country as a whole leaves much to be desired. At the same time, I am grateful to the owners for the opportunity to implement ideas. In fact, a lot has been implemented. In my opinion, the channel had quite good author programs. And our news set the tone for all other TV channels, often even nationwide TV channels asked to share materials, authoritative websites gave information with a link to Sirius. A dozen of our plots on Facebook have had over a million views each. Therefore, I was sorry for the team - very strong journalists, cameramen, directors", said Vitaliy Meshcheryakov. When asked about the fate of the team, Roman Povorznik replied that "the team is on pause". Recall that LLC "Sirius Media Production" received a license for the Sirius satellite TV channel in October 2016. At that time, the owner of the channel was the head of the Kyiv agricultural company "Agrolider" Oleg Koleba. It was planned that the channel would have an ethnic focus, its programs would be aimed at national minorities living in Western Ukraine. In October 2017, it became known that the owner of the Sirius TV channel (LLC "Sirius Media Production") became the assistant-consultant of the People's Deputy from Transcarpathia Viktor Baloh, Roman Povorznik. In March 2018, the director of the Sirius TV channel became the ex-manager of the Transcarpathian regional branch of the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine, Vitaliy Meshcheryakov. It was planned that the channel would have three studios - in Mukachevo, Uzhgorod and Kyiv, which would interact.
