Mediapro is set to launch a dedicated channel, providing comprehensive coverage of the 2026 World Cup. This ambitious undertaking will bring fans all 104 matches of the tournament, a significant increase from previous World Cups.
The company has secured a sublicensing agreement with the Spanish public broadcaster, RTVE, securing the rights to broadcast the matches. Importantly, 71 of these matches will be exclusive to Mediapro's new channel, GolStadium.
GolStadium will then be made available to Spanish pay-TV operators. This distribution model mirrors the successful approach used during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the Gol Mundial channel. The 2026 World Cup, expanded to 48 teams playing across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, promises to be a spectacular event.
FIFA's changes to the tournament format have resulted in a longer and more expansive competition. The increased number of participating teams, from 32 to 48, ensures a wider range of national teams will be competing. Matches are scheduled to take place from June 11th to July 19th, 2026, across various cities in the three host nations.
Spain’s participation is also confirmed, drawn into Group E of the UEFA qualifying phase alongside Turkey, Georgia, and Bulgaria. The top team in each group will directly qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
