German commercial broadcaster RTLzwei has announced the appointment of Thorsten Braun as its new CEO and managing director, with his tenure officially beginning on November 12, 2025. The 53-year-old media executive will be transitioning from RTL Deutschland to take on this new role.
At RTL Deutschland, Braun most recently held the position of Chief Marketing, Brand & Consumer Products Officer, overseeing the company's brand strategy, marketing initiatives, and licensing and merchandising operations. He will be taking over from Nicole Glatzmaier, the interim managing director, who will continue in her role as CFO/COO and a member of the management board.
According to Braun, “Taking on the leadership of RTLzwei is both an exciting and highly appealing challenge. The channel has a clear profile, strong brands and great creative potential. Together with the team, I aim to build on these strengths to further develop RTLzwei strategically and editorially.”
Prior to his time at RTL Deutschland, Braun served as the managing director of Super RTL. He also has extensive experience at The Walt Disney Company in Munich, where he led programming and sales from 2013 to 2020. His earlier career included positions at Publicis Media and Paramount.
