Other World Computing (OWC) and Hedge have formed a strategic partnership to integrate Hedge’s Canister software with OWC’s Archive Pro systems. This collaboration directly benefits media organizations and businesses dealing with extensive data archiving needs.

The partnership includes a bundled offer: every purchase of an OWC Archive Pro system comes with a Hedge Canister software license, typically valued at $399. Canister provides intuitive drag-and-drop functionality for Linear Tape-Open (LTO) backups on both macOS and Windows operating systems. The Archive Pro system boasts impressive specifications: up to 18TB of native storage capacity per tape cartridge, expandable to 45TB with compression. Transfer speeds reach up to 300MB/s natively and a remarkable 750MB/s with compression. Furthermore, the tapes offer a 30-year lifespan.

“After breezing through one of the easiest setups you’ll ever experience, complete with driver selection assistance, you can immediately drag and drop files to the Archive Pro just like an external drive,” notes Paul Matthijs Lombert, CEO and co-founder of Hedge. The system supports IBM LTO-7, LTO-8, and LTO-9 drives and maintains LTFS compatibility.

OWC highlights a significant return on investment (ROI), claiming a 577% return and up to 55% lower costs compared to using HDD storage. Hedge’s Canister software enhances the workflow with queuing for ongoing transfers and spanning features to manage files across multiple tapes. The Library Manager interface simplifies tape library management with its drag-and-drop capabilities. The software's native support for both Windows and macOS, with platform-specific optimizations, further strengthens its appeal.

This solution is ideally suited for various sectors, including media and entertainment, corporations, government agencies, and small businesses requiring dependable, long-term data preservation.
