Xperi and Sharp Home Electronics Company of America have announced a collaboration to bring TiVo-powered Smart TVs to the United States. This follows the recent success of TiVo in the European market. The news was revealed at CES Las Vegas, alongside other milestones for Xperi's TiVo platform. The company highlighted that 20 cable operators have chosen TiVo Broadband Solutions to improve their customers’ television experiences.
The launch includes the new TiVo One advertising platform, featuring a novel Home Page Hero Ad display unit. Jon Kirchner, CEO of Xperi, stated, “Consumers have a hard time finding the content they want to watch amid a sea of apps. Our proven search and discovery engines create an individually curated experience, delivering a content-first approach, rather than an app-centric approach, so that consumers can access their content across streaming services and live TV through one personalized interface.” He further added, “And now with TiVo One, we will be able to offer premium, highly relevant advertising to the right audience, within the relevant content, on the ideal device, and at the best moment.”
TiVo's platform has already been successfully deployed across 26 European countries, working with eight partners and 33 brands. Expansion will continue through 2025, with a new OEM partner recently added for the European market. Sharp is one of two major OEM partners in the US to adopt the TiVo OS. The first Sharp TiVo-powered Smart TVs are anticipated to arrive in February 2025.
