Viasat Ukraine, the largest direct-to-home satellite broadcasting operator in Ukraine, will provide its subscribers with high-quality television services using reliable SES Video capacity on the ASTRA 4A satellite.

Under a multi-year agreement with SES, Vision TV will broadcast about 40 pay-TV channels, of which 13 are in high definition (HD), and about 60 free-to-air channels in the satellite’s coverage area at 5 degrees East. At this key orbital position, SES serves about 13 million television households in Ukraine, of which 4.5 million are satellite households.

“We are delighted that Viasat Ukraine trusts us to deliver its video content,” said Norbert Hölzle, Senior Vice President Commercial Europe, SES Video. “This agreement with such a key player in the Ukrainian television market confirms our leading position in the country when it comes to direct-to-home satellite broadcasting services. With the upcoming transition to digital broadcasting and the trend towards the encryption of satellite channels, we firmly believe that there will be significant growth opportunities in the market, and we will support our clients in achieving them.”

“Viasat Ukraine offers the best range of content in regional languages, and the reliable delivery of this content is key to providing the best entertainment for our audience. That is why we rely on SES’s professionalism in providing high-quality services,” said Svitlana Mishchenko, CEO of Viasat Ukraine. “We are confident that SES’s experience will help us expand our audience and our television business in the coming years.”
