YouTube TV, a streaming service in the US, has raised the price of its subscription by $15 to $64.99 per month, saying the new price reflects the "rising cost of content".
Christian Estlien, Vice President of Product Management for YouTube TV, wrote in a blog post: "This new price goes into effect today, June 30, for new members. Existing subscribers will see this change in their next billing cycle on July 30 or later."
"We don't take these decisions lightly and understand how difficult this is for our customers. However, this new price reflects the rising cost of content, and we also believe it reflects the full value of YouTube TV, from the breadth of our content to the features that are changing how we watch live TV," Estlien added.
The blog also notes that YouTube TV will now have more channels from ViacomCBS, including BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land, and VH1, which will go into effect immediately.
