ABC News is strengthening its White House coverage team with significant changes. President Almin Karamehmedovic announced today that Rachel Scott will take on a more prominent role, serving as senior political correspondent to cover the new Donald Trump administration. This comes in addition to her continued reporting from Capitol Hill.

Mary Bruce will remain the network's chief White House correspondent, continuing to lead coverage of the administration. This marks Bruce's fifth presidential administration covered for ABC News. Her past work includes leading coverage of President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign and the 2020 campaign.

Scott's expanded responsibilities build on her previous work as a senior congressional correspondent and lead Trump campaign correspondent during the 2024 cycle. Her contributions included reporting from the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, during the first assassination attempt, and anchoring the network's live coverage of President Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 race. She has interviewed many key figures, including Trump and two sitting vice presidents, Kamala Harris and Mike Pence. She was also in the international press pool traveling with President Biden for his first official meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“ABC News’ Washington, D.C. team is the best in the industry, reporting on the issues which have real impact on our audience,” said Karamehmedovic. “Rachel Scott’s meteoric rise is a reflection of her dogged reporting to get to the heart of every story, and in this new role, I’m confident she will continue to rise to the occasion.”

Bruce and Scott will collaborate closely with senior White House correspondent Selina Wang, White House correspondent Karen Travers, White House correspondent MaryAlice Parks, and correspondent Elizabeth Schulze (covering business, economics, and politics). Their reporting is supported by a robust producing team including Molly Nagle, Michelle Stoddart, Hannah Demissie, and Kelsey Walsh.

Vice President and Washington, D.C., Bureau Chief Rick Klein will continue to oversee the bureau's operations and manage all news teams based in Washington, covering breaking news, daily coverage, and special events.
