Apple recently unveiled the iPhone 12 lineup, which does not include a power adapter or earphones in the box. In addition, these accessories will no longer be included with the iPhone 11, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE, which remain on sale. Apple's website encourages customers to use existing Apple power adapters and earphones or purchase these accessories separately. To smooth things over, Apple has lowered the price of its EarPods with Lightning connector from $29 to $19. The new 20W Apple power adapter for the iPhone is also selling for $19. The discontinued 18-watt power adapter that was included with the iPhone 11 cost $29. Apple stated that dropping the EarPods and power adapter from the iPhone package reduces carbon emissions and eliminates the mining and use of rare earth elements. The iPhone 12 also comes in thinner boxes, and Apple claims that during shipping, they can fit 70% more iPhone boxes on a single pallet. Apple added that many customers have switched to wireless headphones, such as AirPods, and stated that there are over two billion Apple power adapters in the world. This means that many customers no longer need new accessories.
