Blackmagic Design has unveiled significant updates to its Blackmagic Cloud platform. The update introduces a new icon view featuring scrollable thumbnails for quick footage previews. A new inspector panel allows for easy viewing of clip metadata.
Collaboration has also been significantly improved. Clients who aren't members of Blackmagic Cloud can now be invited to presentations via a shared URL, enabling easy collaboration and group chat. Existing Blackmagic Cloud users will automatically receive these updates.
The new icon view, selectable in the top right corner, displays thumbnail icons for media files. Users can scrub through clips by hovering over the thumbnails. Even in list view, icons now reflect media file contents, providing a clearer visual representation of the clips.
A metadata inspector panel on the right side of the application window provides quick access to selected clip metadata. A scrollable media view within this panel simplifies clip selection in list view.
Blackmagic Cloud Presentations now allow for client invitation via a generated URL. This enables quick sharing for seamless collaboration and integrated group chat.
The Blackmagic Cloud login window has been localized into several languages, including German, Chinese, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
Blackmagic Cloud's integration with DaVinci Resolve and various Blackmagic Design cameras facilitates global workflows. The platform’s ability to leverage high-resolution proxies for efficient syncing is key to its functionality. Cameras such as the Cinema Camera 6K, PYXIS, URSA Cine, and URSA Broadcast G2 record H.264 HD proxies, which are live-synced to the cloud and DaVinci Resolve workstations.
The multi-sync feature enhances multi-camera recording setups by presenting all cameras in a multi-view, allowing editors to easily select the best angles. The near real-time syncing ensures editing and color correction can commence even before the recording concludes.
For news workflows, the seamless integration allows editors to work with footage concurrently with recording, minimizing delay between capture and broadcast. The system functions as a media decoder and player, ensuring smooth playback.
“Since we launched Blackmagic Cloud we have been continuously updating and releasing new features to make it even easier for customers to share and collaborate globally ,” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. “Customers have continued to provide feedback and we are excited to be able to add the ability to preview clips in a thumbnail, view clip metadata and review clips with clients who are not members of Blackmagic Cloud using a simple URL!”
These new features are available immediately and free of charge.
