A groundbreaking partnership has been announced between Bundesliga International and MBC Group, securing a three-year agreement to broadcast Bundesliga matches across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This is a historic move, marking the first time a major European football league will be widely available on MBC Group's channels. The deal, effective immediately, will provide MENA fans with access to numerous matches every matchday.
Fans can expect to see three games per week on MBC Action, with the season opener – the highly anticipated match between FC Bayern München and RB Leipzig – airing on the flagship channel, MBC1. All matches will also be accessible through Shahid, the leading Arabic streaming platform. Peer Naubert, CEO of Bundesliga International, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “We are proud to work with the region’s leading player, and one that is committed to bringing the Bundesliga closer than ever before to millions of football fans.” He further highlighted the MENA region's importance to the Bundesliga's global strategy, emphasizing its “fastest growing regions for football fandom”.
The scope of the agreement extends beyond simple broadcasting rights. Mike Sneesby, CEO of MBC Group, explained: “Our partnership will extend beyond broadcasting rights to also include marketing and promotion, as well as exchanging comprehensive technical expertise, and much more. This new agreement is part of our strategic objective to bring the best international sports to millions of fans across the Arab world and the entire region and will allow them to enjoy all the magic of German football.” This comprehensive approach promises to deliver an immersive Bundesliga experience to MENA viewers.
