Sky Italia and Bundesliga International have announced an extension to their long-term partnership. This agreement grants Sky Italia exclusive broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 in Italy, extending their collaboration through the 2028-29 season.
The new four-year deal commences with the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on August 16th. It encompasses live coverage of Germany's top two divisions, including the Bundesliga relegation play-offs. Beyond live matches, Sky Italia will continue to deliver highlights, magazine shows, interviews, and specially curated content across its digital and social media channels.
This marks a significant milestone, as Sky Italia has served as the Italian home of the Bundesliga since the 2003-04 season, establishing itself as one of the league's longest-standing international media partners. The renewed deal builds upon the success of the previous four-year agreement, emphasizing the broadcaster's commitment to showcasing top-tier European football.
“Our connection with Sky Italia has run for more than 20 years, and this long-standing relationship, characterised by mutual respect and trust, has allowed us to evolve with the ever-changing market,” stated Peer Naubert, Chief Executive Officer of Bundesliga International, the DFL subsidiary responsible for marketing Bundesliga rights internationally.
A spokesperson for Sky Italia added, “Sky is delighted to announce this new agreement with Bundesliga, an important league that enriches Sky Sport’s offering dedicated to international football. Bundesliga is synonymous with talent and entertainment, a German football heritage that will remain available to all fans for another four seasons.”
