In preparation for the NFL’s 2025 season, CBS Sports implemented substantial changes to its on-screen graphics during live game broadcasts. A key alteration is the revamped Eyebar, the network’s term for its score bug. This involved removing fantasy statistics and notes from the Eyebar itself, relocating them to a small box in the upper left corner of the screen. CBS explained to NCS that this mirrors the consistent leaderboard format used during its golf coverage.
By eliminating the ticker, the remaining Eyebar elements shifted downward and expanded vertically, increasing the screen space dedicated to the game action. The current score now boasts a significantly larger font size—almost double that of the previous season—reminiscent of updates Fox Sports made to its score bug (the Fox Box) for its Super Bowl coverage earlier in 2025. The overall design is more streamlined, with improved spacing. Team logos are larger, abandoning the practice of cropping them to fit smaller areas, a trend Fox started earlier in the year.
To reduce screen clutter, CBS removed virtual down-and-distance markers created using extended reality technology. This information now resides in the upper portion of the central section between the two team boxes, below which are the current quarter, game clock, and play clock. The Eyebar's overall shape has shifted, growing taller but narrower than before. This contrasts with other NFL broadcasters who usually pack information into a wider layout.
When the Eyebar appears, such as at kickoff or after a break, the animation accentuates both team logos, the CBS eye, and its sports wordmark before settling. The new design favors subtle depth effects over bold 3D effects, particularly around element edges. CBS has also moved its network bug to the upper right of the screen—a change implemented across all CBS Sports coverage. The logo resides within a subtly bordered box, mirroring the fantasy box.
A thin line accent in the fantasy box indicates which team possesses the ball, echoing a similar approach in the Eyebar. Notably, these Eyebar updates won't be applied to college football broadcasts, according to the network.
