For the NFL’s 2025 season kickoff, CBS Sports significantly updated its on-screen graphics during live game coverage. The most notable change is a redesigned Eyebar, the network's name for its score bug. Fantasy stats, previously integrated into the Eyebar, have been moved to a small box in the upper left corner of the screen.
CBS explained to NCS that this new approach mimics its golf coverage leaderboard format. Removing the ticker allowed the remaining Eyebar elements to expand vertically while maintaining a focus on the game. The current score now uses a much larger font, almost double the size from the previous season, reminiscent of Fox Sports’ Super Bowl 2025 updates to its "Fox Box."
The overall layout is cleaner, with improved spacing. Team logos are larger, abandoning the previous practice of cropping them. CBS also removed virtual down and distances, instead placing this information prominently in the middle segment between team boxes, accompanied by the quarter, game clock, and play clock.
The Eyebar’s design is now less horizontally-oriented, having gained height but lost width, unlike other NFL broadcasters who typically use wider layouts. The Eyebar's entrance animation now features both team logos, the CBS eye, and its sports wordmark before settling.
The update favors subtle depth effects over bold 3D elements. The network bug has moved to the upper right, consistent across all CBS Sports coverage, residing within a subtly bordered box similar to the fantasy stats box. A thin line in the fantasy box indicates ball possession, mirroring the Eyebar’s design. Importantly, these Eyebar updates will not be applied to college football broadcasts.
