Deutsche Telekom has reinforced its standing in the German sports broadcasting landscape by acquiring the live TV rights for all games of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the UEFA Euro 2028. All matches from these significant football tournaments will be broadcast live on the company’s German TV platform, MagentaTV, with a substantial portion of the games available exclusively.

The agreement, for which financial specifics were not disclosed, encompasses sublicensing agreements with ARD and ZDF. According to the terms, the public broadcasters will each showcase 30 matches from the World Cup in 2026 and 17 matches from the European Championship in 2028 on free-to-air television. MagentaTV is set to broadcast all 104 World Cup matches and all 51 Euro matches live, with 44 World Cup and 17 Euro matches exclusively available on Telekom’s platform. The exclusive games include two quarter-finals and three round-of-16 ties from each tournament.

“With this rights package, we are once again underscoring that MagentaTV is the number-one destination for major football tournaments in Germany,” stated Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Deutsche Telekom. “Fans can watch every match of the World Cup and Euro, many of them exclusively with us. We’re excited to continue our football journey with millions of viewers and are now assembling a top-class team for the upcoming tournaments.”

The 2026 World Cup, to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature 104 matches due to the expanded format. MagentaTV will have exclusive rights to 44 of them, including 11 knockout games and all six matches in the newly introduced round of 32. The 2028 European Championship, hosted by the United Kingdom and Ireland, will also be shown in full on MagentaTV, including 17 exclusive matches. Both tournaments will again feature MagentaTV’s popular conference mode, allowing viewers to follow simultaneous group-stage matches live and switch between games.

Furthermore, in addition to the men’s tournaments, Telekom will exclusively stream all 64 matches of the Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil on MagentaTV.
