Deutsche Telekom's recent quarterly report reveals a significant deceleration in the growth of its TV customer base within Germany. The company's Q1 2025 report indicates that only 37,000 new subscribers joined its MagentaTV platform between January and March. This represents a considerable drop compared to the 73,000 new subscribers acquired during the same period in 2024, marking a 50% decrease in growth.

The Q1 2025 figures also lag behind the 48,000 new customers gained in Q4 2024. As of March 31st, 2025, MagentaTV boasted a total of 4.675 million subscribers in Germany. Despite the slowdown in subscriber acquisition, Deutsche Telekom experienced robust financial results for the quarter. Total revenue saw a 6.5% increase year-on-year, reaching €29.8 billion. Adjusted EBITDA AL experienced a 7.9% rise to €11.3 billion, and reported net profit surged by 43.5%, reaching €2.8 billion.

“Our figures speak a clear language: We remain on the right course,” stated Tim Höttges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom. “We are yet again proving our resilience in the face of a challenging environment.” The statement highlights the company's overall positive financial outlook despite the challenges faced in the TV market.
