Deutsche Telekom and RTL Deutschland have solidified their collaboration in the German streaming landscape, extending their partnership for another five years until 2030. This renewed agreement ensures that RTL+ Premium remains seamlessly integrated into most Deutsche Telekom’s MagentaTV subscription plans at no extra cost for MagentaTV customers.

This bundling provides viewers with access to over 55,000 hours of programming across various genres. Content includes live sports like the UEFA Europa League and NFL, along with a diverse range of drama series, reality shows, news, and documentaries. MagentaTV customers also have the option to upgrade to RTL+ Max, a comprehensive entertainment package featuring music and audiobooks. Furthermore, the partnership grants MagentaTV customers full access to RTL Deutschland’s portfolio of ten free-TV channels and four pay-TV channels in high definition.

“Our streaming businesses in Germany, France and Hungary continue to grow dynamically in all key dimensions: number of paying subscribers, viewing hours, subscription and advertising revenue. We have defined a clear path to reach profitability with our streaming business in 2026,” stated Thomas Rabe, CEO of RTL Group, the parent company of RTL Deutschland.

“Renewing the successful cooperation between Deutsche Telekom and RTL Deutschland for another five years contributes significantly to our strategic goals. We will continue to invest in first-class content and start the migration of RTL+ in Germany to the Bedrock streaming technology platform in 2025,” Rabe added.

RTL Group has ambitious targets for its streaming services: RTL+ in Germany, M6+ in France, and RTL+ in Hungary. By 2026, the company aims to secure approximately 9 million paying subscribers and generate around €750 million in streaming revenue. To achieve this, RTL Group plans to increase its annual content spending for streaming to around €500 million and attain profitability in the streaming sector by 2026. The initial streaming collaboration between Deutsche Telekom and RTL Deutschland commenced in 2020.
