Digita, a Finnish broadcasting company, has announced the termination of its nationwide pay-TV service, Antero, distributed via Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT). This cessation of service will take effect on May 31, 2025. The Antero brand offered a selection of popular channels including Eurosport, CNN, Discovery, and various digital channels from the national broadcaster MTV.

Ella Kirjasniemi, Digita’s Director of Marketing and Business, explained the decision: “With a heavy heart, we are bidding farewell to Antero, which has become a beloved and well-known brand over the years. Due to continuously rising content costs, the distribution of pay-tv channels on the antenna TV network was unfortunately no longer economically feasible.”

Digita is directing its existing pay-TV customers towards Telia as an alternative provider. Kalle Muhonen, Telia’s Director of Broadband and TV Business, stated: “We offer antenna TV customers an attractive option to continue enjoying interesting domestic and international content. We ensure that the transition of customers to our services happens smoothly and that the content is visible without interruption.”

It's important to note that this change only affects the pay-TV offerings. The free-to-air channels broadcast on the DTT network will remain unaffected and continue to be available to viewers.
