From October 2, 2025, Disney+ subscribers in South Africa will gain access to ESPN Africa linear channels without any additional fees. This exciting development will provide customers with round-the-clock access to ESPN and ESPN 2 Africa, offering live broadcasts and studio analysis of leading US and international sporting events.

ESPN's programming lineup includes thrilling competitions like Australia's National Rugby League, Japan's Rugby League, and football action from the Scottish Professional Football League, English Football League, Dutch Eredivisie, German Cup, Turkey’s SüperLig, and the Saudi Pro League.

ESPN 2 concentrates on major US sports, showcasing the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL, along with college-level competitions such as NCAA football and basketball, and women’s leagues including the NWSL. Viewers can also enjoy studio programs such as ESPN FC, First Take, The Pat McAfee Show, and SportsCenter, in addition to documentaries like the acclaimed 30 for 30 series.

Diego Londono, SVP and GM Networks & Sports, The Walt Disney Company EMEA, stated that this launch demonstrates Disney’s commitment to expanding its sports coverage across various platforms. Kyle de Klerk, Director of Sports for The Walt Disney Company Africa, noted that this addition arrives as the NFL and European football seasons are in full swing, with the NBA, NHL, and NCAA seasons set to begin later in the year. Currently, the ESPN Africa channels are available on DStv and StarTimes throughout the continent.
