LaLiga has solidified its domestic broadcast arrangements for another five years, extending its collaboration with Telefónica’s Movistar Plus+ and DAZN through the 2027/28 to 2031/32 seasons. The agreement is valued at €5.25 billion for residential top-tier rights and €6.135 billion in total.
Starting in 2027/28, Movistar and DAZN will continue to share all LaLiga EA Sports fixtures equally, with each platform broadcasting five matches per matchday – approximately 190 games per season each. Mirroring the current structure, DAZN will broadcast one Clásico, while Movistar will broadcast the other, maintaining the value of these premium matches on both platforms.
The new residential package represents an increase over the current 2022/23–2026/27 agreement, which is valued at €4.95 billion. LaLiga reports that the overall domestic rights revenue – including hospitality (HORECA), second-tier LaLiga Hypermotion, and free-to-air and highlights packages – will increase by around 9% compared to the current cycle, with the residential top-flight rights alone increasing by approximately 6% to €1.05 billion per season.
Movistar will remain the primary aggregator in Spain, continuing to offer subscribers an “all matches” option by wholesaling DAZN’s package under a resale agreement that has been in place since 2022. DAZN, for its part, maintains a strong direct-to-consumer presence through its own app and the DAZN LaLiga channel, which is available on Movistar Plus+ and other pay TV platforms.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas stated that the renewal is a strategic achievement in a challenging international media-rights landscape, attributing it to improvements in the league’s audiovisual product and anti-piracy efforts, as well as increased revenue from HORECA and second-tier rights. For DAZN, the agreement solidifies Spain as a key football market alongside properties like the NBA, NFL, and Formula 1 on the platform, while Telefónica reinforces Movistar Plus+ as the premier destination for football in Spanish households until 2032.
