On Thursday, August 21, ESPN introduced its highly anticipated direct-to-consumer streaming service, ESPN DTC, alongside an updated ESPN App. This launch strategically precedes significant sporting events, including the commencement of the college football and NFL seasons, the U.S. Open tennis tournament, and various international soccer competitions.
ESPN DTC offers two subscription options. The "unlimited" plan, priced at $29.99 per month, grants access to ESPN's extensive linear network portfolio—ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPNEWS, and ESPN Deportes—alongside ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SEC Network+, and ACC Network Extra. A more affordable "select" plan, priced at $11.99 per month, provides access to ESPN+ only. Bundling options are available for both plans. The platform promises access to 47,000 live events annually, complementing studio programming, original series, and replays.
All unlimited plan subscribers, regardless of access method (ESPN DTC or traditional pay TV), will enjoy programming such as "SportsCenter," "First Take," "NFL Live," and "College GameDay." A promotional bundle combining Disney+ and Hulu with the unlimited ESPN plan is available for $29.99 per month during the first year.
The revamped ESPN App features a redesigned interface prioritizing personalization. New features include multiview options, live game statistics, sports betting data, fantasy sports integration, and a tailored feed, "SC For You".
