Imagine Communications and Rohde & Schwarz have reached a definitive agreement that will see Imagine acquire Pixel Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz. The deal is anticipated to be finalized in 2025, pending standard closing conditions.
Pixel Power is known for its software-defined solutions in areas like multiviewing, monitoring, and playout automation. This acquisition aims to integrate Pixel Power’s technology and team into Imagine Communications, thus enhancing Imagine’s offerings in live production and playout. Imagine intends to keep Pixel Power’s development center in Cambridge, England.
This strategic move aligns with Imagine’s commitment to growing its IP- and cloud-based portfolio. Pixel Power’s platforms, which include PRISMON, Gallium, and StreamMaster, will be integrated into Imagine’s existing product ecosystem, including the SNP multiviewer. The companies believe that this combination will offer customers a broader selection of multiviewer and production tools as they transition to IP and hybrid workflows.
Rohde & Schwarz intends to realign its business to focus on test and measurement, technology systems, and cybersecurity. Thorsten Sauer, current CEO of Pixel Power, stated that the acquisition "positions the company for future growth under new ownership." James Gilbert, deputy CEO of Pixel Power, added that the transition would "allow for expanded innovation and enhanced customer support."
Imagine Communications is planning to showcase Pixel Power’s solutions at NAB Show New York 2025, scheduled for Oct. 22-23 at the Javits Center.
