Germany's Joyn streaming service, a platform operated by ProSiebenSat.1, has significantly boosted its free live TV offering. The service now includes 14 local channels broadcasting from Bavaria. Viewers can now access channels such as allgäu.tv, augsburg.tv, Franken Fernsehen, and others, all free of charge.

This expansion is a direct result of collaboration between Joyn and the Bavarian Media Authority (BLM), along with its technological arm, bmt. The aim is to improve the distribution of local Bavarian television programs on OTT platforms.

Katharina Frömsdorf, CEO of Joyn, stated, “We are continuously expanding our free live TV offering for our viewers on Joyn. We are very pleased about the close cooperation with BLM and about the fact that we are supporting the diversity of opinion and offerings for all viewers in Bavaria with the enhanced distribution of 14 private local and regional stations.”

This expansion builds on Joyn's recent addition of another notable channel: the German Parliamentary Channel (“Parlamentsfernsehen”), offering live broadcasts from the Bundestag.
