Beginning January 1, 2025, the Catholic television channel K-TV will be available in high-definition (HD) on the Astra satellite system (19.2° East). K-TV-HD will be accessible unencrypted at 11.112 GHz H (SR 22.000, FEC 2/3), with test broadcasts already underway. The German-language channel's programming centers around religious themes, featuring church services, spiritual lectures, prayer sessions, documentaries, and programs exploring theological and social issues.

K-TV has been broadcasting in standard definition (SD) on Astra since 2002. “Broadcasting the beauty of faith is our central mission,” stated Dr. Johannes Hattler, Managing Director of K-TV. “We are therefore all the more pleased to be able to realize a further milestone in quality improvement at the end of our 25th anniversary with the switch to HD via satellite and regional cable networks.”

K-TV plans to discontinue its parallel SD transmission on June 30, 2025, offering its programming exclusively in HD thereafter. This upgrade marks a significant improvement for viewers, providing a clearer and more detailed viewing experience of the channel’s religious content.
