KOTV, the Griffin Media-owned CBS affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has transitioned to a temporary set while preparing for a new studio launch in fall 2025. This temporary space features a curved anchor desk accommodating four individuals, positioned before a smaller curved LED panel. Flanking the desk are two front-lit panels showcasing a geometric interpretation of Tulsa landmarks, incorporating a vertical texture.
It seems parts of this temporary set might be integrated into the new studio, hinting at a design mirroring that of its sister station, KWTV in Oklahoma City. KWTV's 2024 set redesign, incorporating similar textures, colors, and materials as KOTV's temporary arrangement, strengthens the likelihood of set piece repurposing. These elements could potentially serve as a flash cam or occupy a secondary area, such as an interview or multi-purpose space within the new studio.
The temporary KOTV set also aligns with KWTV's color palette, utilizing blue and red accents in both scenic elements and lighting. KWTV and KOTV have long maintained similar on-air aesthetics—their numerical logos are nearly mirror images, capitalizing on the shared shape of "9" and "6." KWTV is branded as "News 9," while KOTV is known as "News on 6."
Prior to KWTV's 2022 relocation, both stations (with sets designed by FX Design Group) shared comparable designs. Post-relocation, KWTV received a sleek set upgrade from FX, later replaced by its current design in 2024. KOTV, however, retained its 2012 FX-designed set, though adopting KWTV's Vivid Zero graphics package that same year. KOTV has made incremental updates over time, including the addition of LED panels. KOTV remains at its Boston Avenue location in downtown Tulsa. The stations share some programming, including a sports wrap show, giving KOTV viewers familiarity with aspects of KWTV's look.
