LFP Media’s general manager Nicolas de Tavernost has provided details about the new L1 channel, set to broadcast French top-flight football starting this season. While some details remain, the monthly subscription cost will be €14.99, significantly lower than DAZN's €30-40 price point last season, a cost many believe contributed to the deal's collapse. The LFP will air eight matches daily from the season's start, expanding to the entire program from 2026-2027.
In an interview with L’Equipe, de Tavernost, a former M6 executive, confirmed a non-exclusive distribution model. “We are in a multi-platform distribution mode. We are in negotiations with all the distributors, except for Canal+, which did not wish to continue discussions with us.” While stating that Canal+ could still join, de Tavernost suggested Canal+ mismanaged its priorities. “They have put a lot of money into the European cups, but there cannot be €490 million for the Champions League on the one hand and only €100 million for the L1. This gap is not possible.”
Targeting one million subscribers in its first year, LFP is offering a discounted €9.99/month subscription for those under 26.
