France's premier football league is broadening the accessibility of its in-house streaming platform, Ligue 1+, to significant European markets. This expansion brings every game of the Ligue 1 McDonald’s season to fans in the UK, Ireland, and Italy.
The comprehensive platform, which provides access to live matches, highlights, replays, and exclusive documentaries, initially debuted in Italy last month. Notably, Ligue 1+ serves as the sole provider in Italy to showcase every match, supplementing a non-exclusive arrangement with Sky Italia, whose coverage doesn't encompass the complete game schedule. The service is offered at €9.99 monthly or €49.99 for a full season.
In the UK and Ireland, Ligue 1+ has been operational since the commencement of the 2024/25 season, broadcasting every game excluding those affected by the traditional 3 p.m. blackout rule. This service is priced at £9.99 (€11.60) per month or £49.99 (€58.10) per season. It features English commentary and collaborates with Amazon Prime Video through a pay-per-view agreement.
Domestically, in France, Ligue 1+, since its launch in August, has attracted over one million subscribers. Overall, Ligue 1 McDonald’s will be broadcast across 215 territories globally through 50 partners. According to the league, "further updates and new features are planned to enhance the Ligue 1+ experience and broaden international access to French football." New broadcasters also include Pro TV/Voyo in Romania, PBS in Malta, Mono in Thailand or VTVcab in Vietnam. In total, Ligue 1 McDonald’s will be available this season in 215 territories worldwide, via a network of 50 broadcast partners.
