Mediaproxy, a provider of software-based IP compliance solutions, has announced it received formal approval from Dolby for its Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby AC-4 decoders. This significant development integrates support for all Dolby distribution codecs and the Dolby Atmos immersive audio format into the LogServer compliance monitoring software platform and Monwall multiviewer.
Dolby, a leading developer of Next Generation Audio (NGA) technologies, is renowned for its Dolby Atmos immersive system, a key feature in major films and high-end streaming series across platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+. Dolby Atmos, an object-based audio (OBA) format also featured in Dolby AC-4, offers advanced features such as improved dialogue intelligibility, audio description, alternative languages, and commentaries, all with high personalization.
The approval encompasses Dolby’s key compression technologies: AC-3 (Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound) and E-AC-3 (Dolby Digital Plus), supporting up to 15.1 audio channels. The LogServer suite, including Monwall, now offers complete monitoring and analysis of these formats and their associated channels and audio objects.
Mediaproxy’s chief executive, Erik Otto, stated, “Dolby is not only a highly respected brand in the professional broadcasting and audio worlds, but also a name recognized by consumers as a guarantee of high quality and exciting sound. We are extremely proud to have received approval. As the leading company in our section of professional broadcast engineering, our customers expect us to provide the highest possible standard in our product. Having attained Dolby approval underlines our on-going commitment to engineering excellence.”
