MSNBC will soon be known as MS NOW, marking a significant rebranding effort. This change comes as Comcast completes its spin-off of most of NBCUniversal’s linear cable properties, resulting in a new parent company named Versant. The rebranding, expected to launch in late 2025, will see the network shedding its association with NBC, including the iconic peacock logo.

The new name, according to Versant, represents "My Source (for) News Opinion World," a backronym reflecting the network’s focus. The NBC television network, however, will retain its name and continue using the peacock icon. The original MSNBC, standing for "Microsoft NBC," evolved after NBC purchased Microsoft’s stake. The new logo, unveiled August 18, 2025, features "MS NOW" in all caps, with a flowing banner icon incorporating red and white. The lettering uses blue as either a background or primary stroke color, switching to white on darker backgrounds. Interestingly, the negative space within the banner forms a left-pointing arrow, possibly a subtle nod to the network's left-leaning stance.

The typeface in the logo is a clean sans serif, featuring a distinctive circular "O" and wide "M" and "W". While the exact font remains undisclosed, it's possible it's a customized version. The full backronym "My Source | News | Opinion | World" is included below the name, set in the Publico font, also used on the NBC and MSNBC websites. The change from the previously used Tinker font is due to the upcoming split with NBC. The future of branding conventions like "MSNBC Reports" remains uncertain.

The rebranding also impacts other networks. CNBC will retain its name but adopt a new logo, though specifics have not been revealed. Interestingly, the new MS NOW name bears some resemblance to NBC News Now, a free streaming service remaining with NBCUniversal post-spin-off. Early reports suggested MSNBC might retain its name, a prospect that has now proven incorrect.
