NEP Group's TFC broadcast orchestration platform, previously used exclusively within NEP's operations, is now being offered as a licensed service to the wider broadcast industry. This innovative platform seamlessly integrates into diverse environments, including broadcast facilities, production compounds, and even remote or cloud-based setups. A key feature of TFC is its ability to simplify complex IP-based workflows, effectively uniting hardware and software from various vendors under a single, intuitive interface.
Initially conceived and developed internally by NEP engineers to tackle the operational challenges inherent in managing IP-based infrastructure, TFC has become NEP's standard IP 2110 control system. Its successful deployment spans numerous high-profile events, including the Super Bowl, PGA Tour, The Masters Tournament, the 2024 global sporting event in Paris, and the World Cup. Furthermore, notable clients such as Seven Network in Australia utilize TFC in their broadcast operations. NEP has successfully integrated the system across its mobile units, centralized production hubs, and on-site compounds throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
“TFC is integrated across our NEP facilities worldwide, including our broadcast compounds and production hubs,” said Soames Treffry, president of NEP Australia, New Zealand and Japan. “Now we’re very excited to take this next step in the technology’s evolution by making TFC available as a scalable service partnership.”
As a broadcast control platform, TFC offers a user-friendly touch-screen interface, streamlining the management of IP 2110 workflows that traditionally require specialized network expertise. Its functionality encompasses real-time monitoring, software-defined networking capabilities, and crucial system alerts related to network health, latency, and device status. TFC is specifically designed to support clients who may lack in-house network engineering teams or are in the process of transitioning from legacy baseband systems. NEP emphasizes the platform's robust security features, making it ideal for high-stakes media events and critical infrastructure projects.
“TFC has completely changed the way engineering and production teams are able to manage many different layers of hardware and software on a major show site or in a production facility,” said Michael Raimondo, vice president of broadcast technology for the PGA Tour. “The platform takes something very complex in our industry and simplifies it for our operators.”
NEP highlights TFC's technology-agnostic nature, ensuring compatibility with multi-vendor environments, and underscores its commitment to providing 24/7 global engineering support. The platform is now available as a licensed software solution for a wide range of media organizations, including broadcasters, rightsholders, sports leagues, entertainment producers, and others. TFC complements NEP’s broader portfolio of media services, which encompasses mobile production units, equipment rentals, connectivity solutions, and studio operations.
