NewsNation has unveiled a significantly altered evening and primetime schedule, effective February 10, 2025. The most notable changes involve the relocation of two key programs. “On Balance with Leland Vittert” will now air at 9 p.m. eastern, while “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” shifts to the 7 p.m. slot. This restructuring follows the conclusion of “Dan Abrams Live,” which previously occupied the 9 p.m. timeslot.

The network has yet to announce its plans for the 5 p.m. eastern hour, currently filled by Vargas' program. Given that “NewsNation Now,” a rolling news broadcast, currently airs until 5 p.m., the network may choose to either extend this news coverage or introduce a brand-new show.

This programming shift places “On Balance” in direct competition with established shows such as “Hannity” on Fox News, “The Rachel Maddow Show” or “Alex Wagner Now” on MSNBC, and “CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip” on CNN. The new time slot for “Vargas Reports” will see it go head-to-head with Fox’s “The Five,” MSNBC’s second hour of “Deadline: White House,” and CNN’s “The Situation Room.”

In addition to the scheduling adjustments, NewsNation also announced a new, multi-year contract with Elizabeth Vargas.
