NBCUniversal is increasing the cost of its Peacock streaming service. Both the Premium and Premium Plus tiers will see a $3 monthly price increase, impacting new subscribers starting July 23rd and existing subscribers from August 22nd.

The Premium tier will jump from $7.99 to $10.99 per month, while Premium Plus rises from $13.99 to $16.99. Annual plans will reflect these changes, costing $109.99 and $169.99 respectively.

This follows a similar price adjustment in 2023 and positions Peacock more competitively with services like HBO Max and Disney+.

A new subscription option, Peacock Select, is being introduced at $7.99 monthly or $79.99 annually. This tier provides access to current seasons of NBC and Bravo shows, alongside selected library content, offering a lower-cost entry point.

Peacock's content library has grown recently, boosted by viewership from "Love Island" and the upcoming addition of NBA games this fall. Other programming includes "Poker Face," NBC late-night shows, and Universal Pictures films. A "The Office" spin-off, "The Paper," is also in development.

NBCUniversal executives have highlighted sports as a key differentiator for Peacock. Currently, over 80 percent of Peacock subscribers utilize the ad-supported tier.

While the price increase is significant, it's in line with other streaming services. Apple TV+ increased its price by $3 in 2023, and Disney raised Hulu and Disney+ prices by $3 to $5 over two years.
