A series of photos posted by journalist Kira Swisher on Bluesky, now archived, hint at a potential new show in the works at CNN. The images show Swisher and CNN anchor Audie Cornish in CNN’s Studio 19Y, the former home of “New Day,” in New York City. Two additional individuals are also visible in the photographs.
Swisher’s caption read: “What I was up to this week. There are cowboy hats and fun involved. And people far cooler than me. We’ll see.” While the purpose of the photos isn't explicitly stated, the most likely explanation is a test shoot for a new program. The images clearly showcase video walls and on-set monitors displaying graphics with prominent “Off Script” typography, suggesting a possible working title.
Sources have indicated that these photos were taken during a test shoot. Speculation points towards a potential show fronted by Cornish, possibly filling the timeslot vacated by “The Chris Wallace Show.” The set design is notable, featuring an “in the round” seating arrangement with chairs in green, red, blue, and black, an eclectic color scheme mirrored in the on-set graphics, which simulate real building materials.
While a new show seems likely, there are alternative interpretations. The “Off Script” branding could be a fictional show within another program. Another possibility is that it's a real show produced for a different Warner Bros. Discovery property. Even if it is a new show, the talent, name, graphics, and set design could undergo changes before airing.
It's worth noting that CNN previously produced "King Charles," a limited series featuring Gayle King and Charles Barkley, also filmed in Studio 19Y. Swisher herself recently appeared on CNN’s “Have I Got News for You.”
