Prime Video has tapped into the musical talents of three Grammy Award-winning artists – Common, Karriem Riggins, and James Poyser – to craft the theme music for its upcoming "NBA on Prime" broadcasts. The musical piece, entitled “Victory (NBA on Prime Theme),” is scheduled to premiere on October 24th, coinciding with Prime Video's coverage of the 2025–26 NBA season opener.
The recording of the theme took place in September at Ocean Way Studio in Nashville, featuring a 60-piece orchestra. According to information released by Prime Video, the score was meticulously directed by Common, Riggins, and Poyser. The composition is intended to capture the essence of basketball's rich history and cultural impact, making it the first national NBA theme created by Black composers.
“Victory” will be the signature musical element for all “NBA on Prime” broadcasts globally. The music will be incorporated into all “NBA on Prime” content and has been developed in various arrangements, including orchestral, rock, and hip-hop versions. “Our NBA coverage will be a celebration of the game for fans around the world, and we believe music plays a key role in that experience,” said Amina Hussein, executive producer, “NBA on Prime.” “Our theme needed to be timeless, modern, and soulful—and that’s exactly what Common, James and Karriem brought us.”
The final mix of the score will be handled by Grammy-winning audio engineer Manny Marroquin. The theme song will first be heard during “NBA on Prime’s” doubleheader on October 24th, showcasing the Boston Celtics at the New York Knicks, followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Los Angeles Lakers. “Victory (NBA on Prime Theme)” will also be available for streaming on major platforms starting the same day.
